Terms of Service

What this service is, what it is not, and what we each agree to.

Who these terms are between

This website and the coaching services described on it are provided by Koby Smutylo, operating as Strong & Connected, in Vancouver, British Columbia. By using this website or booking a session, you agree to these terms.

What this service is — and is not

Strong & Connected provides relationship coaching informed by Relational Life Therapy. Coaching is a skills-based, forward-looking practice focused on patterns, communication, accountability, and behaviour change.

Coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, or medical care. It does not diagnose or treat mental illness. Coaching is not a regulated health profession in Canada, and it is not covered by extended health benefits. If what you need is assessment, diagnosis, or treatment of a mental health condition, the right professional is a registered clinical counsellor, psychologist, or physician — and we will say so rather than take you on.

Nothing on this website, and nothing said in a session, is legal, medical, financial, or psychiatric advice.

This is not a crisis service

Sessions are scheduled in advance and messages are not monitored around the clock. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 — the Suicide Crisis Helpline — at any hour. In British Columbia you can also call 310-6789 for mental health support, with no area code needed.

Booking, payment, and cancellation

Sessions are booked through the scheduling links on this site. Fees are those quoted at the time of booking or agreed in writing. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full. Where something unavoidable happens, tell us and it will be handled reasonably. Any arrangement agreed with you in writing takes precedence over this paragraph.

Sessions are delivered online

Sessions are held by secure video call. You are responsible for having a private space and a connection good enough to take part. Technology fails occasionally; where a session is materially disrupted for technical reasons it will be rescheduled or credited.

Couples engagements

In couples work, both partners take part in the same engagement. Material raised by one partner may be brought into joint sessions — no confidences are held on behalf of one partner against the other. Either partner may end the engagement.

What is expected of you

Coaching depends on your participation. You are asked to engage honestly, to be willing to look at your own contribution to the patterns you want to change, and to treat anyone else in the session with respect. A session may be ended where someone is abusive, intoxicated, or unwilling to take part, and repeated conduct of that kind may end the engagement.

No guarantee of outcome

No responsible practitioner can promise a particular result, and none is promised here. Coaching can change how you understand and handle a relationship. It cannot guarantee that a relationship will improve, survive, or end in any particular way. Decisions you make during or after coaching are yours.

Confidentiality and your information

How your information is collected, used, and protected — and the limits of confidentiality — are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

The assessment tools

The relationship assessments on this site are reflective tools, not clinical instruments. They do not diagnose anything, they are not validated psychometric tests, and their output is not a recommendation to stay in or leave a relationship. They are a structured way to think, and nothing more.

Website content

The writing, articles, and materials on this site belong to Strong & Connected. You are welcome to read, quote briefly with attribution, and share links. Reproducing substantial portions or republishing the content as your own is not permitted.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, liability arising out of the use of this website or the coaching services is limited to the fees paid for the services in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version posted here is the one that applies.
